We endeavor to support our children and families by enhancing the continuity of the child and families’ experience during the many transitions that occur in the early childhood years: the daily transitions within program, as well as transitions between program and into formal school settings. We value the diverse ways that children engage with others, ideas, materials, and the world.

Day care Options
Age-specific support for every stage
30 months- 5 years:
This group is supervised in a 1 Educator to 8 children ratio. Children play, create, invent, and imagine the many possibilities through character role play and storytelling. Music or drama become vehicles of expression. This play is enhanced through building materials, items for messy play, dress-up items, outdoor environments, and a variety of other arts and crafts materials. Early literacy is another integral element - reading, board games, science experiments, and math activities are all explored daily. Children engage in exploration by asking questions, exploring the world through their senses—touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing—and through whole-body experiences including fine motor, gross motor, and cognitive activities.
KG - Gr 3:
This group is supervised in a 1 Educator to 12 children ratio. Transportation to school and back will be provided. After school, some children seek high-energy activities, while others need something calming to unwind after a busy day. They will be provided opportunities for activities anywhere on this spectrum. Whether children are looking to explore their artistic side or expend some energy playing a more physical game, after-school creative activities can be the perfect way to end the afternoon. Educators will facilitate unique and fun activities for children after school like: - Creating Art: Paint objects from nature, use shaving cream to create a marbled masterpiece by adding food coloring to mix around with toothpicks, get their hands into some rainbow foam. - Dressing up and putting on a short play. - Making their own puppets and putting on a show using paper bags.

The Affordable Child Care Benefit is a monthly payment to help eligible families with the cost of child care. Factors like income, family size, and type of care determine how much support families can get.
Families are required to renew their application every year. This application is the responsibility of the family. If funding agreements are not in place, families will be charged the full value of their package and credited if funding comes in at a later date.

Invoices are due upon the 1st day of each month. Our accounting team will issue an invoice via Quickbooks. Payments can be made via direct debit form, e-transfer, or cheque.

Daily activities
Designed to help children realize their potential
Morning Huddles
Our days start with an exchange of greetings as children are welcomed into the program. Educators welcome children in the morning with warmth and assist where needed. Children will arrive at the program no later than 10:00am. We would like to request that the children be fed breakfast if arriving after 8:30 am. Parents are expected to accompany their child to their respective classroom each day and ensure outdoor gear and personal items are in their appropriate spots/personal cubbies. Parents are expected to communicate and update any important information/incident at home that might affect the child’s day, to the Educator. Update the arrival time on the Attendance records and Inform the program if there is a change in the pick up routine(time or pick up person) and sign out a written release document if needed.
Health & Safety
Safety is ensured by active supervision of children and maintaining accurate attendance records. Educators will observe children’s play and behavior both indoors and outdoors with optimal supervision ratio as per Childcare Regulations to ensure the safety and appropriate interactions among the children. Educators will position themselves in a manner that all children are visible to them. Staff will face the children and not turn their backs to them when supervising. Where more than one staff is supervising, they will position themselves at different positions so that all children are supervised. Staff members will not cluster in one spot or engage in long conversation with one another, when supervising. Sick children will be separated and kept under safe supervision of an educator while keeping a close eye on the symptoms while the parents arrive for pick up. Medication, Allergy and Incident/Accident policies/procedures ensure safety of all children in care. Emergency Plan will be posted and communicated to families and staff. Monthly Fire Drills will ensure a regular practice for the staff, ensuring everyone understands their roles and duties.
Nap/Rest time
Children require rest, a well rested body and mind rest are important for growth and a time for children to interpret their day. They will be provided downtime to lie down on their own mat/crib for a rest. We will make an effort to honor requests by parents/guardians. However, the needs of the children will take precedence. Children will not be forced to stay awake or to fall asleep. Non-sleepers will be given quiet activities after 30- 45 minutes of quiet time to get re-energized. The Quiet environment allows children, who do nap, to fall asleep, and for others to rest their body and brain.
Learning Lab
Educators ensure that the Room Environment is optimal for supporting children’s exploration of their interests, strengths, and emerging skills for the desired outcome of age appropriate development. Educators will provide multiple sources of light, appropriate to the activities and learning experiences and bring elements from nature into the indoor space to facilitate sensory experience. Opportunities that support their emergent literacy, math readiness, and science and language development abilities are planned through daily programming. Children are involved in the decision-making process to increase confidence and social competencies. Educators will encourage environmentally responsible practices to promote children’s connections with the natural world.
Superfoods
We are a PEANUT-FREE facility- no peanuts or peanut products. Please mark alternative products like wow butter or pea butter. We encourage all meals provided from home to follow the Canada food guide, optimizing nutrition for three meal-times:
Breakfast/morning snack 7:30am-8:30am/10:00-
11:00 with 2 food groups incorporated;
Lunch 12:00pm-1:00pm with 4 food groups;
Afternoon snack 3:00pm-4:00pm (2 food groups), on a daily basis.

Outdoor Play
City of Kelowna park is at a 8 min walk from the facility. The groups are able to utilize the park for daily active play with Gross motor experiences along with nature exploration in various areas of the park. Educators will plan 60 minutes of daily unstructured active play outdoors, and 60 minutes of structured physical activity each day indoors or outdoors. This will mean that there are planned daily regular times for unstructured active play. Children will get plenty of time to run, jump and climb. Educators plan atleast one outdoor play period each day at the park and ensure children have plenty of time outside to be active. Educators will ensure that the goal of at least 60 minutes of unstructured, child-directed physical activity each day is met through mindful planning. Parents complete the written consent to walk to the Kelowna City park on Abbott street. Children will be able to play and explore the park/playground throughout the year. One Staff member steps out daily to thoroughly inspect and ensure the areas leading to the park/playground as well as the areas of play, the groups will safely head out for the daily outdoor playtime. As an important part of the daily playground routine, staff will invest in educating the children on how to be safe and act responsibly at the playground on correctly using the play equipment, and to be aware of potential hazards. Educators ensure the use of Sunscreen, water, hydration and proper sun protection with wide brim sun hats(not ball caps) for the summer time outdoor play.
